Regional Overview
Metro Vancouver, located on the southwest corner of mainland British Columbia, includes 12 public school districts and multiple private schools. Home to Vancouver, the third largest city in Canada, the Metro region is also a major transportation and industrial hub.
The largest school district in Metro Vancouver is Surrey, enrolling nearly 82,000 students and employing over 13,000 teachers, administrators and school staff. In addition to the larger districts of Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam and Richmond, the Metro Vancouver region also includes smaller school districts in Maple Ridge, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, New Westminster, Delta and Squamish.
