School Overview

We’re a co-educational, independent Jewish high school committed to ensuring each student feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. As an educator here, you’ll join a collaborative and passionate team that values your expertise, encourages professional growth, and provides the resources and support needed to make a meaningful impact every day.

Why You’ll Love It Here

King David High School fosters a supportive, team-oriented culture where staff are committed to students’ well-being and success.

Our vision — to empower Jewish minds and engage Jewish hearts for the modern world — guides our work.

We emphasize creativity and lifelong learning, and our employees value opportunities to collaborate professionally and connect socially.

What We Value

King David High School is a leading independent school in central Vancouver and a member of ISABC and CAIS. Our staff represent diverse backgrounds, and we value that diversity.

We offer a warm, collegial environment where collaboration helps students thrive. The school fosters a Jewish culture rooted in shared tradition, a commitment to social justice and a love of learning.

What Makes Us Unique

  • Staff enjoy a warm, welcoming and modern environment that is collegial and supportive.
  • Professional development is encouraged through conferences, courses and workshops, both in and outside the school.
  • Our team is young, motivated and engaged and is supported by an administration that is committed to maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive workplace.
  • We offer a comprehensive compensation package that includes competitive salaries, extended health benefits, RRSP matching and additional perks.

Our School Community

The King David community is defined by its safe, supportive environment and a commitment to holistic student development — intellectual, moral, social and physical.

We are a highly mission-driven school focused on academic excellence, Jewish values and developing caring leaders and citizens. This creates a strong sense of belonging, where staff know students well and work together to support one another.

As we say, KDHS is Where You Belong.

Living in Vancouver

KDHS is located in a central, urban neighbourhood on Vancouver’s West Side, near 41st Avenue and Oak Street. It is on the 41/R4 bus route and within walking distance of the SkyTrain. We are also directly across from the Jewish Community Centre, where employees receive a discount that supports family and community life.

The location offers easy access to Queen Elizabeth Park, Oakridge shopping and Vancouver’s world-class amenities — mountains, beaches and a vibrant arts and culture scene.

Salary and Benefits

SALARY AND benefits

We pay teachers $5,000 over Vancouver School Board posted teaching salaries, and this differential will increase in the future. Other positions are offered competitive salaries with annual pay reviews and increases.

We offer a robust benefit program that includes an RRSP matching program (currently at 9%), extended health family benefits fully paid by the employer, partial gym membership and an employee discretionary Health Spending Account Allowance. We also offer personal flex days, employee and family sick days and a paid referral program.
