Welcome to Vancouver College

Established in 1922, Vancouver College is the only all-boys, Catholic, independent school in British Columbia. Founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice, our mission is to educate boys and young men from diverse backgrounds in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice.

Why You’ll Love It Here

As a small, close-knit community, we build meaningful relationships with students, families and colleagues.

Teachers are encouraged to take part in our vibrant campus life, including athletics, faith-based activities and a wide range of extracurricular programs.

Vancouver College is renowned for its strong athletic tradition, with teams earning provincial and national titles in sports like basketball, football, rowing and more. Our arts programs also thrive — choir, theatre, band, fine arts, public speaking and debate consistently excel in competitions and international festivals.

What We Value

As we approach our next century of providing inspiring education for young men, Vancouver College has embarked on a process of continuous improvement, pedagogical transformation and campus renewal; leading the way in innovative practice while honouring our deeply rooted traditions.

As a Catholic school, we are committed to nurturing the growth of the whole person by providing rich opportunities for faith formation, academic excellence and diverse extracurricular experiences. Guided by the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice, we strive to cultivate a strong social conscience in every student, encouraging meaningful service that connects them to both local and global communities.

What Makes Us Unique

Vancouver College is recognized for its strong spiritual program, outstanding academics, extensive co-curricular opportunities and exceptional teaching staff.

At the heart of our curriculum is Religious Studies, which students must pass at every grade level to advance and graduate. As a single-gender school, we use proven strategies for educating young men and foster a sense of family and tradition through the support of teachers, parents and alumni.

Academically, we rank among the top schools in the province according to the Fraser Institute, with students excelling in athletics and the arts.

Our School Community

Vancouver College houses three schools under one roof, serving students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our varied approach ensures every student is supported through flexible programs and guided by our vision that they “leave here a better man.”

Elementary students (Kindergarten–Grade 6) experience diverse teaching styles while rooted in strong traditional values. Middle School (Grades 7–9) bridges the significant transition from elementary to high school, while Senior School (Grades 10–12) emphasizes independence and responsibility for approximately 480 young men.

Our curriculum fosters the growth of the whole person, develops higher-order thinking and prepares students for lifelong learning.

City, Coast and Culture

Vancouver is a cosmopolitan city surrounded by mountains and ocean, offering the perfect balance of urban living and outdoor adventure. Three local mountains — Cypress, Grouse and Seymour — provide hiking and biking in summer and world-class skiing in winter, while Stanley Park’s 22 km seawall is ideal for walking, cycling and running.

The city thrives on work-life balance, with abundant fitness studios, wellness centers, shopping districts and cultural venues like the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and the Orpheum. Sports fans cheer for the Canucks, Whitecaps, and BC Lions, while arts enthusiasts enjoy vibrant music, theatre and festivals.

Known for its scenic beauty, mild climate and diversity, Vancouver ranks high for quality of life. Its compact size and easy transit make commuting simple, and its mix of economic opportunity and natural splendor attracts people from around the globe.
