Welcome to CISND
For over 100 years, the Diocese of Nelson has provided Catholic education in the Okanagan and Kootenay regions of British Columbia.
Today, we operate elementary schools in Cranbrook, Nelson, Trail, Penticton, Kelowna and West Kelowna, as well as a high school in Kelowna.
Our mission is to educate the whole child through the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Through collaboration with the home and Church, CISND works to create lifelong learners who are contributing Christian members of society.
Why You’ll Love It Here
CISND offers a welcoming, faith-based environment across seven schools, each fostering a close-knit community where students and staff feel supported. We take pride in our “small school, big family” approach.
We teach the B.C. curriculum while integrating Catholic values, educating the whole child. Join a collaborative team committed to lifelong learning and the mission of the Diocese of Nelson and the Catholic Church. Successful applicants enjoy strong collegial support within their school and across the diocese.

What We Value
At CISND, we are dedicated to building strong, professional relationships within our school communities. Guided by Christ’s teachings, we strive to help every student become the best version of themselves.
In partnership with the home and Church, we strive to educate the whole child with the Gospel message of Jesus Christ as its foundation.
By priests, administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and parish members all working together, the students of the CISND become life-long learners and fine contributing members of society.
What Makes Us Unique
We are proud to be, first and foremost, a Catholic school system. We are committed to weaving the teachings of the Catholic faith into every aspect of school life, creating an environment where faith and learning go hand in hand.
Every student is valued and treated with the inherent dignity of being a son or daughter of Christ, fostering a community built on respect, compassion and spiritual growth.
Our School Community
CISND school communities thrive with a shared purpose: educating and nurturing every student. Parents, staff, and students recognize that spiritual and academic growth lies at the heart of our mission. Our schools are filled with the spirit of Christ, and we are committed to supporting the formation of the whole person.
Such formation embraces not only intellectual but also physical, emotional, moral and spiritual dimensions of human growth. This broad education prepares students for the challenges of life to become innovative and responsible global citizens.
Explore, Learn and Thrive
Our schools are surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. Nestled in the heart of British Columbia, the Kootenay and Okanagan regions offer an exceptional quality of life.
From sparkling lakes and world-class wineries to cultural districts and outdoor recreation, there’s something for everyone: swimming, hiking, biking, golfing, camping, fishing and winter sports.
Kootenay schools are in smaller, rural communities with a lower cost of living, while Central Okanagan schools are in more urban settings. Our communities are truly wonderful places to live, work and play.
